Defcon 3 is well with my soul...

Dearest friends and family,

Jason here. I wanted to update you, so that you will know how to pray. As you may already know, things are pretty difficult for us. It's alot like "Defcon 3" at our house right now. Please pray for the life of Alaythia, and for her parents to be able to trust unflinchingly in the sovereign reign and good work of King Jesus.

Last year, Sophia, our first precious daughter, was born prematurely - 6 1/2 weeks early, and God was gracious to us. The doctors are now concerned about the fact that Claire is already evidencing symptoms of pre-term labor, in this our second pregnancy. If we go into labor right now, (over 3 months early), Alaythia will probably not be able to sustain her own little life.

When a ship captain cannot see the beacon of light through the dense fog, the light is still there. And when we cannot see the good that God intends for us through the density of difficulty, His good and perfect will is still there. He refines us, like gold in a fire. It burns out impurities, however painful, and leaves pure character remaining. We stand in awe of His grace towards us.

May it NEVER be said in difficulties that God is absent. No, He is never so near to us as when He draws us in to comfort us through the most difficult times.
I am reminded of William Cowper's song:

God moves in a mysterious way
His Wonders to perform
He plants His Footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm
Deep in unsearchable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright Designs
And works His sovereign Will

You fearful saints - fresh courage take!
The clouds you so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Claire and I bow our sinful hearts before a holy and righteous God who wrote history and included us in His family. All we have to offer is worship.

Thanks for your prayers,
Jason
